District Level Administrators such as Building Principals and Special Education Supervisors

What assistance can the school expect the Behavior Consultant to provide?

The consultants assist schools in their efforts to:

  • Identify and program for students with autism spectrum disorders

  • Conduct functional assessment and develop appropriate intervention plans for students at-risk for a more restrictive placement.

  • Develop early intervention and mental health initiatives.

When should a Behavior Consultant be called in to help?

The Behavior Consultant may be contacted to provide assistance to local school districts when, after utilizing local resources, school personnel are still having difficulty in meeting the behavioral needs of students who are:

  • At-risk for residential placement,
  • At-risk for placement in a more restrictive environment,
  • At-risk for repeated suspension or expulsion, or
  • Identified as having, or suspected of having, an autism spectrum disorder

Primary focus is on students between the ages of 3 - 13 with the intention of providing early intervention to improve their overall school outcomes.
